The ASAB Education Committee is here to support people interested in a career in animal behaviour.
Below are links to resources we would like to share. These are institutions that highlight diverse career routes, professions and people across STEM:
STEM Research Career Roadmap, Royal Society
Becoming a Scientist, University of Cambridge
Smashing Stereotypes, British Science Association
A to Z of the Biosciences, Royal Society of Biology
MedSciLife, Academy of Medical Sciences
STEM Career Profiles, Wenite
A Scientist Just Like Me, Primary Science Teaching Trust
101 Jobs That Change The World, UK Research and Innovation
Career Profiles, Catalyst in Me
Our careers resources are free to download:
Women in Animal Behaviour Science posters:
Careers leaflet - suitable for careers fairs and open days
School careers posters - perfect for a classroom display or library
Case Studies - read about the careers of people using their animal behaviour skills everyday. Would you like to learn more about being a zookeeper, ecologist, PhD student, education officer, science communications manager or animal technician?
We are always looking for more case studies and people representative of diverse backgrounds and/or people with unconventional pathways to an animal behaviour career. Research shows that young people are inspired when they see people like them with aspirational careers. If you would like to share your story via one of our case studies please complete this form and email it to education@asab.org .
We can answer questions, provide resources and advice. If you have a specific question concerning careers please email our education officer.
